Team
In order to build a valuable, credible and likeable company, you need to have a team with the same characteristics. ServicePoint is comprised of a small highly experienced team with a broad and deep range of business and technical skills.
We are guided by four principles:
- Be transparent: The facts are the facts. We have nothing to hide.
- Be accessible: Use technology to help our customers first and our company second.
- Be open-minded: Always be attentive to and considerate of the alternative view.
- Be confident, not pompous: We are capable but not infallible.
These are not just cute phrases, rather our deeply ingrained intentions that instruct our decisions each and every day.

Michael Douglas Smith The loss of our peerOn Thursday February 9th, the life of a truly incredible person was suddenly cut so unfairly short. Michael D. Smith was a great husband, father, son, uncle and businessman. His exceptional character and capabilities made him an integral part of ViewPoint. Those who knew and worked with Mike all marvelled at his breadth and depth of knowledge, skill, organizational capabilities and work ethic. Mike, we are deeply saddened about losing you but eternally grateful for all that we learned from you. Mike's obituary from his family is included below. It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Douglas Smith, PEng, 48, announce his sudden passing on February 9, 2012 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital. Michael was born in Montreal on June 18, 1963 to Douglas and Patricia (Partridge) Smith. Besides his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Jayne (Burgess) Halifax, sons Benjamin and Alexander at home, sister Cathy Noullett (Doug) of Calgary and brother Scott (Krista) of Fall River. Michael was a loving uncle to Jacob, Emily and Meghan and a supportive brother-in-law to Shawna. A graduate of Sackville High School, where he was the recipient of the Governor General’s Medal, he continued his studies at Dalhousie University (BSc’83) and Technical University of Nova Scotia (BEng’85). After graduation, he began his career at Proctor and Gamble in Toronto. From there, he moved back to his Maritime roots to work for Maritime Tel & Tel. It was through MT&T that he became involved with InfoInteractive a small technology start-up that Michael helped to grow and successfully sell to AOL. Most recently Michael continued to engage his entrepreneurial spirit as VP of Business Development at ViewPoint. Michael was a dedicated and active community volunteer. As a parent, he enthusiastically supported his sons through their many athletic and academic endeavors. He particularly enjoyed his affiliation with Scout’s Canada and took pride in coaching his son’s Osprey Basketball team. Michael’s greatest moments were those spent with his family and friends whom he dearly loved. Mike will be forever missed, and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Michael’s memory to Laing House, or a charity of your choice. |
